Alright, as some of you may know, I love Star Trek! It began as a fascination with the old series, meeting James Doohan once as a child, then getting into the movies as they came out. After that, I watched some of the new series, but it just wasn't the same.
Anyway, I just read today that CBS/Paramount are releasing updated versions of the old episodes, with updated special effects, sound, and music. Wow!

I was pleased that Paramount decided to do this (it's for the 40th anniversary). They are leaving the stories as they are, basically just cleaning up the film and enhancing the effects, but not going crazy on it. The show still looks and feels right but has had its age hidden a bit. It's good stuff.
I fondly remember watching the original series with my parents while I was growing up. It was pretty much the only time we'd ever have dinner not in the dining room - it was a special sort of bonding.
